| Preparation Complete |
|
With the gemstone flush to the gemstone meter and the activate meter button depressed, slowly and ever so little move the gemstone on top of the pinhole where the reading is taking place. Make certain the gem does not move off of the pinhole completely. The analog gauge needle will move about while you are moving the gemstone.
Note the highest and lowest readings and the reading where the needle stays the longest. Generally the most steady needle location is most likely the type of gem you are testing. However, this is not a definitive test and you should rely of several gem property tests to confirm the findings. |
