- About this faceter:
Jack Hepting grew up in Asheville, NC and began gem and mineral collecting at the age of 12. He enjoyed prospecting and it soon became a regular family activity. He began cabochon cutting at 15 and taught himself to facet gemstones. Over the next forty years he took some time off to have a distinguished career as an architect, but returned faceting in 2002. His work is characterized by his patient determination to cut only the finest possible gem to the highest standards. His focus on crisp meetpoints, mirror bright facets, and maximum light return is apparent in the high quality gemstones he creates. He is a member of Tar Heel Gem and Mineral Club, and the United States Faceters Guild.

I began faceting in 2006, and immediately fell in love with it. Trained with a Grand Master for 5 years to build skill quickly, competed to earn my own title (currently Pre-Master), and graduated from John Bailey's "Resident Faceting Academy." Earned Graduate Gemologist (GIA) so I could understand more about the stones I cut and educate others on unique properties. I work with all types of transparent materials and all budgets - my goal is to make a high-quality heirloom that you will treasure and want to pass down. I also do setting work, stone repair or recutting, gem ID, and work with pearls. Member of the US Faceter's Guild and candidate member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers.

- About this faceter:
I have been interested in rocks & gems since the age of six. I started faceting in 1989 on a very inexpensive faceting machine which was barely a step above a jam peg. It did teach me to pay close attention to what I was doing which proved very valauble lesson. It's not the machine which produces fine cut gems it's the cutter. I currently do stone repair cutting as well as custom faceting. I also ocasionally teach faceting. I am located in San Jose, Ca.
