Obsidian

Obsidian is a type of natural glass formed from lava.  It can be jet black or reddish-brown depending on the iron content. Historically, it was used for jewelry, sharpened for arrowheads, and even polished to be used as scrying mirrors by the ancient Mayans. It's thought to be a shield against negativity and offer clarity.
